DEMYSTIFYING THE QUEENS BIRTHDAY & NEW YEAR HONOURS

This event has finished Took place on: Thursday, 26th Oct 2017
Demystifying The Queens Birthday & New Years Honours List
Have you ever wondered why or how someone receives a BEM, MBE, OBE, CBE or DBE honour on The Queen's Birthday or New Year’s Honours List. How do you nominate someone to receive this, and do you know someone who deserves to be nominated?
As part of a Black History Month roadshow to encourage more minorities and women to be nominated for the honours, you are invited to attend a presentation to help you find out more about how the system works, entitled Demystifying the British Honours System.
There are nine independent committees which makes the selections and recommendation to the PM, either for the Queen's New Year's Honours List or The Queen's Birthday List.
We want to encourage more nominations for women and BAME communities.
This is not just for the perceived great and good, but for anyone carrying out supportive work in their community beyond the call of their work or duty, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Ken Olisa OBE Lord Lieutenant Greater London, invites you to come and hear from people just like you, who have stories just like yours, and how they got their investiture.
Dr Yvonne Thompson CBE will open the event and Donna Fraser will chair the panel session and Head of Honours Secretariat will make a presentation and answer questions.
Come and hear from past and more recent awardees who cover a wide age and business range.
We hope this will help to Demystify The Honours System and motivate you to nominate someone you know who deserves to be honoured.
